In India, holy basil (tulsi) has been cherished as a "sacred plant" for thousands of years. Ayurvedic texts describe it as a herb incorporated into daily life to calm the mind and deepen breathing, and the custom of drinking tea brewed from its leaves and enjoying its aroma continues to this day.
